| "The First Victim": Collective Memory and its Transformations in Post-War Austria |
|
| Today, the theoretical framework of Austria as a victim of Nazism is being criticised. It is now seen as a strategic argument of official Austria, leading to repression and denying the Nazi-past. This talk discusses the complex contexts in which this theory has been used in the Second Republic, and it's impact on the ways of dealing with victims and perpetrators. Also, the erosion of this explaining model during the last decade will be discussed. |
