Challenging Identities – Legacy or Choice? Reflections from Eyewitnesses and Descendants
Daniel Strauss was born in 1965 and lives in Ortenberg in Hessen. He is president of the German federation of Sinti and Roma in Baden Wuertemburg. He is also vice president of the German Sinti and Roma centre for culture and documentation. He has produced material for the Fritz Bauer institute on Antiziganism, past and present. In1998 he co-founded the association for research into Antiziganism which is based in Marburg. He has written numerous papers and talks as well as books; for example: author of "Sinti and Roma story telling Heidelberg (1992), Sinti and Roma in German literature, Heidelberg (1992). he has also written and edited educational material issued by the Hessiche Institute for Education as well as being the author of 'Guidelines for teachers: between romanticisation and racism, 600 years of Sinti and Roma in Germany.
