| Some examples from the World Wide Web will show how websites are being used as forums of remembering and virtual memory. Structure, interactivity and target groups of the electronic networks will be discussed, as well as the problem of the volatility and variability of electronic publications. |

| Andrea Rosenauer has studied German and Journalism at the University of Vienna. She is in charge of the internet at the Austrian Institute for the Furtherance of Exploration and also at the International Literature Proceedings Institute (INST) in Vienna. She has written articles on Literature and the internet for the electronic journal TRANS (http://www.adis.at/arlt/institut/trans/) and the International Journal for Cultural science.
