Responses to the "Wehrmacht Exhibition" in Austria
To date, the exhibition "War of Extermination Crimes of the Wehrmacht 1941 -1944" has been shown in six Austrian towns. It has triggered a range of strong reactions from denial of the crimes to enthusiastic assent. In this workshop, we will discuss the different reactions and their causes.
Walter Manoschek studied Political Science and is an assistant at the Political Science Institute at the University of Vienna. He is the co-curator of the exhibition: "The war of destruction. The crimes of the Wehrmacht from 1941-1944", organised by the Hamburg Institute for Social Research. Publications include: "Serbia is Jew- free"; " The Politics of Military Occupation and the Destruction of the Jews from 1941-1942", and he is the contributing writer to the "Journal of the Research Institute of Military History", second edition, Munich 1995.
