Challenging Identities – Legacy or Choice? Reflections from Eyewitnesses and Descendants
Peter Huemer was born in Linz in 1941 and is a journalist and historian. He studied History, German and Art History at the University of Vienna. From1969, he worked for Austrian Television in the records department. From 1974 to 1976 he worked with Claus Gatterer on the magazine programme "Teleobjektiv". From 1977 to 1987, he was head of the talk show 'Club 2' and since 1987 he has been head of discussion and talk programmes for ORF Radio.

Publications: "Department boss Robert Hecht and the destruction of democracy in Austria" (1975) "In conversation" (1993) "Subjugation. About obedience and its destructiveness" (1990 with Grete Schurz) "Viktor Matejka – the book no. 3" (1993) plus numerous book extracts for the Journal of Austrian history in the twentieth century (edited). He has also been given several awards for his journalistic and academic work.
