| Caspar Einem was born in 1948. He studied law, obtaining his doctorate in1971. He has practiced law, specialising in juvenile crime and probation,aswell as finance. From 1986 he was in charge of consumer affairs, trafficandplanning for the Viennese Work Board. He was also on the comittee and from1986 until 1989 acted as chairman of the Employee Department. In 1991 hemoved to the Austrian mineral company "OMV" where he was in charge ofbusiness development and strategy planning, before finally being made thehead of the Natural Gas section. In November 1994 he achieved his aim ofentering the Austrian Parliament where he worked as State Secretary in the Exchequer, and then as Minister for Home Affairs. Since 1997, he has beenMinister for Transport and Education with special responsibility for universities and secondary schools, research, technology andtelecommunications as well as air, ship and rail travel. He is married with a son. When time allows, he likes to draw, listen to music and go skiing. |
