| The archive of the Holocaust memorial site Auschwitz-Birkenau holds 2400 personal photographs of people who were deported – images that show the undamaged lives of their owners before the Holocaust. For three years, the memorial site and the Fritz Bauer Institut have been cataloguing this collection. |

| Kersten Brandt was born in 1964 and studied German and History. For the last three years she has been employed in the photgraphy section of the Fritz Bauer Institute, Frankfurt (Study and Resource Centre for the history and the effects of the Holocaust) |
