The „End“ of the Holocaust in Hollywood
"I will look into ways in which 'Hollywood endings' and in fact Hollywood beginnings and middles have been used in the service of making films about the event. I will focus on the current discussions/controversies re Begnini's 'Life is Beautiful'."
Mark Bernheim: I hold advanced degrees in Comparative Literature, with specialties in modern novels and architecture in English, French, German, and Italian. I lead cultural tours of "Jewish heritage" In Italy, am a free lance journalist, and teach children's literature especially at Miami U (Ohio), where I have been since 1975. I have held Fulbright professorships in Grenoble, Dijon, Florence, and Vienna. I am currrently interested in the implications of Holocaust "comedy' as in LA VITA E BELLA and other films.
